On January 10th Project Inspire Manhattan held its annual Family Shabbat Dinner on the Upper West side in NYC.
Over 140 people joined together for a delicious and fun Friday night dinner. Trip alumni who went to Israel with us from 2015 and beyond delighted in reuniting with old friends and connecting with new ones. Participants brought their family members, from a 100 year old grandmother to infant babies. Many Project Inspire Manhattan learning partners also attended the dinner. Among the many highlights were a beginners kabbalat shabbat prayer service, an outstanding teen program, and fantastic, inspiring remarks by Rabbi Yitzchak Gettinger.
New at the dinner this year, a diverse group of Project Inspire teens came together for interesting discussion groups and a fun social program with a hypnotist, all while parents schmoozed and sang shabbat songs. Among high schools represented were Bronx science, beacon high school, Eleonor Roosevelt, Hunter, Lab, Manhattan High School, MTA and Ramaz. Teen time was a fun way to bring together Jewish teens of all backgrounds and we can’t wait to do it again.
Annually held, the Project Inspire family shabbat dinner is the most anticipated Project Inspire Manhattan event. From just a few people a few years ago into a huge event in a ballroom in 2020, a sense of connection is what keeps us growing as a community. We are excited to continue wonderful programming focusing on Jewish Inspiration and learning.
